Prayer from Job 42:1-6

Heavenly Father, I long to see You in the way Job did.  Though our minds can be full of You, it's not through our minds that we reach You.  It's Your grace.  Allow me to know when I'm trying to speak of You without truly knowing You.

Job 42:3, Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wornderful for me to know.

Father, help me to listen.  You are the greatest listener there is and have set a high bar.  I have so much to learn from You.  It's by Your grace I will hear You speak.

Job 42:4, You said, "Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me."

Father, may I behold Your presence in and around me.  May I realize the grace to be found in You.  May I come into this knowledge through Your Son Jesus.  Like Job, I believe if I see you it will lead to me despising myself.  I believe I will want to change my selfish ways for Your other-oriented love.  Help me today to repent of anything selfish in my life.  Help me repent of anything that blocks my growth in Your love.

Job 42:5-6, My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.  Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.

Amen

Prayer from Revelation 1:4-8

Jesus, you are: the one who is, who always was,  and who is still to come. Jesus, you are: the faithful witness, the first to rise from the dead,  and ruler of all the kings of the world. Jesus, you are: the one who loves us and has freed us from our sins, You have made us a kingdom of priests for God. All glory and power to You forever. Amen

Prayer from Colossians 3:21

Father, thank you for gently and patiently parenting me.   Thank you for waiting on me.  Thank you for always being there for me no matter what.   Thank you for your unconditional love for me. Now, I want to ask you to help me do this with my children. - To be gentle with them - To be patient with them. - To always be there for them.   - To unconditionally love them. I pray this in your name, amen.
